During my awesome three week spring break, I took a trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia. Don't feel bad if you have to look up where Croatia is... ;) We took a train to Zagreb the nation's capital and then an 11 hour bus ride down the coast of Croatia to Dubrovnik, the heart of the Adriatic.
WARNING: Picture Happy Blog =)

Love road signs, 92 km to Dubrovnik! |
|
The bus ride was mostly overnight, but I would coninually wake up and look out the window to the amazing coast of Croatia! |
|
We're getting closer |
|
I love this picture, it was taken on a friend's camera, but I just think its amazing. And I know nothing about farming in Croatia, I just think it looks beautiful and maybe flooded? |
|
We made it to Dubrovnik and started exploring! Found a library that looked like a 'secret garden' |
|
We rented a lovely house for our stay. |

Pope John Paul II was beatified on May 1st and I saw several advertisements for this. Wish I could have gone to Rome for that. |

Then next day we scheduled an excursion. The trip was called Three Islands & Fish Picnic and it included a boat cruise visiting three island with a fish lunch ;) The Croatian currency is called Kuna and is about 7 Kuna to every 1 Euro or 5 to every 1 dollar. The cruise costed 250kn (fast math anyone?) and was well worth the price!

On a boat, in the Adriatic Sea, how cool is that! |
|
Cooking off the end of the boat! We had lunch after the first island. |
|
YUM. My mouth is watering :D |

Island adventures |

St. John's chapel from 9th century. It was neat to be in Croatia before the heavy tourist season because we felt like we were really exploring and discovering the islands instead of walking around with a bunch of other tourist. |
Laundry Time!

Our Last Day: Beach Day! |
We laid out on a beach in front of a hotel. Since Croatia is only an up and coming vacation destination, the coastline isn't crowed with resorts, but instead is magnificent with its natural beauty!
|
We swam in the Adriatic! |
|
And it was cold. |
|
Enjoyed the sun. |
Oh and I jump off a cliff into the Adriatic! Some Croatia boys who were about 14 years old were doing it and we asked if they would show us where to jump! So we climbed up the rock with them and then built up the courage to jump!
|
That's me! It was awesome |
|
One last look =) |

Time to start our journey back home to Vienna. |
Good bye Dubrovnik!
Good morning Zagreb! Arrived in Croatia's capital around 6am and then walked around until our train back to Vienna.
We were there so early the Saturday market was just opening!
The end :)
